Meet Beth, one of our members here at Yoga with Soul.
Joining the tribe in October 2018 Beth came to yoga with no previous experience and signed up for our initial 6 week Foundation Course and has continued her practice with us ever since!
I caught up with Beth earlier this week to ask about her practice, and whether she’d noticed any changes in her life since starting up. Here’s how Beth’s yoga practice has helped her overcome anxiety and increased her self confidence.
D: Why were you drawn to start your yoga practice?
Beth: I was at a place in my life where I recognised that I was becoming increasingly anxious. Whilst relaxing on a girls holiday in Spain, it gave me the space to realise how anxious I had actually become, and decided I had to make a positive change. I have always been quite spiritual and open and interested in practising yoga but never had the confidence to pursue it. I contacted Diana while I was on that holiday and am so very glad I did.
D: Do think yoga has made a difference to your life?
Beth: It definitely has…..since starting back in October there have been definite physical changes. 2 years ago I had a fall and fractured my coccyx. Practising yoga has been the best remedy, I have not needed to use medication for pain relief since.
It has taken me by surprise that in such a short space of time how my practice has brought peace and balance into my life, not only when I’m practising on my mat but into all areas of my life. From my first session I had an instant relief and I no longer suffer with palpitations due to anxiety.
D: Is there anything that you particularly like about yoga classes at Yoga with Soul?
Beth: I love the variety of the classes and teachers Yoga with Soul offer, from mindful vinyasa flows to energising heated fusion classes. I pick my classes based on how I’m feeling that day, whether I need grounding or energising. The classes always have the desired effect. Each and every teacher at the studio are so helpful and knowledgeable. I have sooooo much more to learn. I look forward to every class.
D: Is there anything that you think yoga has taught you in particular?
Beth: It sounds so trivial but to breathe, release and be present, whether that’s during a posture, Shavasana or in my daily routine. I find yoga and its teachings invaluable, I am truly thankful for the significant change it has brought to my mind and body. I am anchored, connected and peaceful, and in those times when life becomes unsettled and chaotic, I now have the tools to steady my mind and let go.
D: Would you recommend yoga to a friend?
Beth: I have already recommended yoga to all my friends, really can’t stop raving about the benefits! A few have already come along to classes and have loved it.
D: Would you say there is a mantra that you’ve developed, or maybe a catchphrase?
Beth: I give myself permission to slow down. It helps me to be more present and see things a lot clearer.
Just look at that beaming smile – we love how much confidence yoga has given you too!
Thank you so much for sharing your practice with us Beth.
